The Swiss company generated a net profit of 2.5 billion dollars (2.26 billion Swiss francs), an amount close to the 3 billion expected for the year as a whole, according to figures published by the group.

Gross premium income increased by 4.2% to $33.72 billion, specifies the world number 2 in the sector. Net profit reached 2.47 billion, compared to the loss of 285 million a year ago.

Over the first nine months of the year, Swiss Re’s activity was however marked by an increase in claims. In this context, reimbursements linked to natural disasters amounted to $1.1 billion between January and September.
