Both in football and extra-football, the ‘Superclásico’ did not pass the test at the Monumental Stadium. A lackluster goalless draw that was easily marred by the incidents that occurred in the stands, where they threw flares, attacked the technical and management staff of Universidad de Chile and threw sharp objects onto the pitch.

After the accusations of Michael Clark (president of Azul Azul) and the condemnation of violence in Colo Colo, this Monday, Safe Stadium made the balance of the controversial meeting in Macul.

In the first instance, Pamela Venegashead of the government department, called the incidents “unacceptable from any point of view.”

“Several things happened that don’t have to happen in stadiums. We witnessed attacks on leaders and members of the coaching staff (of the University of Chile). We also saw how flares and fireworks were thrown, as well as objects being thrown onto the pitch, such as a penknife.”recounted Venegas.

In this sense, the authority emphasized that the evaluation of the Superclásico “is clearly not positive” and announced a meeting with both teams, and another with the organizer of the event.

“Our position is to push for the corresponding sanctions to be carried out”warned the ‘Cacique’, stressing that the work of Estadio Seguro is to “manage and coordinate all legal actions to investigate what happened, draw all conclusions and make the determinations that have to be made.”

Regarding whether it was a mistake (or not) to allow visiting fans in a match of this magnitude, Venegas stated that the disorders in the Monumental were not related to said decision.

“The incidents do not occur because of that, but because of the bad behavior of fans on both sides. The sale of tickets for the visit is not the factor here, it is the behavior of some fans, not all “sentenced.
