Zurich and London – February 24, 2026 – SIX Swiss Exchange, a leading financial market infrastructure operator, has modernized its call management and compliance recording systems with a cloud-native solution from Luware. The move, utilizing Luware Nimbus and Luware Recording, aims to strengthen long-term compliance and improve operational efficiency within the highly regulated financial sector. This upgrade replaces legacy systems, addressing challenges posed by evolving regulatory requirements and the end-of-life of older technologies.
The financial services industry faces increasing pressure to balance innovation with stringent compliance standards. SIX, which delivers essential services across trading, securities, financial information, and payments to over 4,000 employees worldwide, recognized the need for a more agile and secure communications infrastructure. The company’s previous Alcatel-based telephony and call center environment presented limitations, including time-consuming manual provisioning and delayed reporting, hindering timely operational insights, according to Luware.
Further complications arose after a migration to Skype for Business, with integration issues surfacing with the existing NICE call recording solution. The subsequent end-of-life of Skype for Business in January 2024 accelerated the need for a modern, compliant telephony and call recording solution. To address these challenges, SIX opted for Luware Nimbus for contact center and call routing within Microsoft Teams, alongside Luware Recording, a cloud-native compliance recording solution leveraging Verint Financial Compliance and Intelligent Voice software.
Streamlining Operations with Microsoft Teams Integration
Luware Nimbus replaced manual processes with self-service workflows, empowering ring group owners to independently manage memberships and reducing IT overhead. This shift improves visibility into call performance and allows for more responsive adjustments to changing business needs. The integration with Microsoft Teams was a key factor in the decision, offering a familiar interface for users and simplifying deployment. According to Luware, this builds on previous successful deployments of Luware TeamManager and LUCS in SIX’s on-premises telephony setup.
In parallel, Luware Recording facilitated the migration of legacy call recordings from SIX’s on-premises Verba archive to the cloud without data loss. This ensures long-term data ownership, encryption control, and auditability, even as preserving advanced search capabilities. The solution is certified for use in highly regulated industries, addressing the critical need for secure and compliant data storage.
Meeting Stringent Regulatory Requirements
“SIX operates in a highly regulated environment, where meeting standards such as FINMA, FinfraG and PCI DSS is part of doing business,” said Andrea Panarese, senior system engineer at SIX. “Luware’s product suite continues to help us stay compliant and audit-ready, giving us confidence that both internal and external requirements are consistently met.” These regulations govern financial market conduct and data security in Switzerland and internationally.
Christian Jordan, global head of sales at Luware, emphasized the benefits of the deployment. “Since deployment, SIX has strengthened operational efficiency, increased confidence in meeting regulatory requirements and put in place a scalable, future-ready approach to communications compliance,” he stated. “We look forward to continuing to perform together to ensure their communications meet the high standards required in such a highly regulated environment.”
Luware Nimbus transforms Microsoft Teams into a full modern contact center and customer experience hub, offering intelligent task routing, seamless omni-channel workflows, and built-in AI extensions, according to the Microsoft Marketplace listing. Key benefits include speed and efficiency through a familiar Teams interface, AI-powered productivity features like AI summarization, and improved customer experience with intent-based routing.
The successful implementation at SIX demonstrates a growing trend towards cloud-native communications solutions in the financial sector. As regulatory landscapes evolve and the demand for enhanced security increases, organizations are prioritizing solutions that offer both compliance and operational agility. The move by SIX positions the exchange to effectively navigate these challenges and maintain its position as a leading financial market infrastructure provider.
Looking ahead, the focus will likely be on further leveraging the capabilities of Luware Nimbus and Recording to optimize workflows and enhance the customer experience. Continued investment in cloud-based communications infrastructure will be crucial for financial institutions seeking to maintain a competitive edge and meet the evolving demands of the market.
