Buenos Aires-based FilmSharks has successfully secured a series of new distribution agreements for “I Can’t Live Without You” (“No puedo vivir sin ti”), a fresh comedy that features Argentina’s most bankable star, Adrián Suar, in the lead role, promising a captivating experience for audiences globally.

Warner Bros. Discovery has clinched broadcasting rights for Eastern Europe, while New People Film Company has acquired distribution rights for the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), which includes Russia and the Baltic states. Notably, Tanweer has secured the rights for Greece, and AV Jet will be distributing the film in Taiwan. Meanwhile, negotiations are currently ongoing for distribution rights in France, Germany, Korea, Australia, and China, reflecting a strong international interest in the film.

FilmSharks’ subsidiary, The Remake Company, has also successfully sealed remake agreements for the film with Italy’s Federation and Mexico’s BH5. Additionally, discussions for adaptations in French, German, Chinese, and Korean markets are also in motion, highlighting the film’s broad appeal across various cultures.

“This modern and realistic high-concept comedy about cell phone addiction has translated globally very well, raising its distribution and remake potential,” said FilmSharks CEO-founder Guido Rud, emphasizing the film’s timely theme in today’s digital age.

The latest offering from the creative team behind Spain’s reigning #1 comedy, “Ocho Apellidos Vascos” (“Spanish Affair”), this Spanish-Argentine co-production was meticulously filmed across picturesque locations in Spain and is directed and produced by Santiago Requejo (“Grandfathers”) through his production company, 2:59 Films. Since August, the film has been streaming on Netflix in the U.S., Latin America, and Spain, reaching a wide audience eager for relatable comedy.

Suar (“30 Nights With My Ex,” “A Boyfriend for My Wife”) stars alongside the talented Paz Vega (“Spanglish,” “Kill the Messenger”) in this topical comedy. In the film, Suar’s character, Carlos, is a prosperous businessman whose overwhelming addiction to his cell phone prompts his wife to deliver an ultimatum: he must choose between his phone and their marriage. As he embarks on a journey to salvage his relationship, Carlos enrolls in smartphone addiction therapy—will it be sufficient to turn his life around?

Ramón Barea (“Everybody Knows”) and Raquel Guerrero (“Alpha Males”) round out the main cast, bringing depth and complexity to this engaging narrative.

The comedy was filmed in diverse and vibrant locations across Spain, including Bilbao, Getxo, Santurtzi, Zamudio, Gatika, and Madrid, taking advantage of the region’s film incentives to enhance its production quality.

FilmSharks continues to expand its international footprint with new acquisitions. In September, it secured world sales rights to Sandra Gugliotta’s upcoming drama “Irremediable,” a gripping thriller produced by Argentina’s Magma Cine. This nuanced film sheds light on the clandestine world of illegal adoption, following a desperate woman who is willing to risk everything in her yearning to become a mother.

The international production, sales, and distribution company also recently acquired world sales rights to the Spanish dramedy “Samana Sunrise,” featuring top box office star Luis Tosar (“Cell 211,” “Sleep Tight”). After its presentation at the Iberseries & Platino Industria in Madrid, FilmSharks showcased the comedy at RioMarket and will also feature it at the AFM in Las Vegas and Film Bazaar. Universal Pictures is set to release the film in Spain on November 8, with Movistar Plus+ acquiring second window pay TV and SVOD rights, ensuring a wide reach in the Spanish-speaking market.

Directed by Rafa Cortés (“Yo”) and based on a well-received play by Jordi Galcerán, the Spanish cast is further enriched by Alfredo Castro of Chile (“El Conde”) and the U.K.’s Charles Dance (“Game of Thrones”), promising a diverse and talented ensemble that adds significant value to the project.
