The generational change to the GeForce RTX 40 series that started with the GeForce RTX 4090 last fall, but the GeForce RTX 4060, which was launched the other day, gives the impression of taking a break. While these new-generation GPUs are mainly talked regarding in terms of performance, the old-generation GPUs, which have improved their affordability due to price reductions, are also attracting attention once more. It’s good news that the sharp rise in video card prices, which was once conspicuous, has calmed down, just in time for the ultra-high-end to mid-range. Now that both old and new generation products are attracting attention, let’s collect more than 20 types of video cards equipped with new and old GPUs and compare them all at once using benchmark software and actual game titles. Delivery will start at 21:00 on Tuesday, July 24th. In the game, the frame rate is measured for each resolution of full HD, WQHD, and 4K, so you can perfectly understand which model of GPU meets the performance you need in the environment that suits you. Katsuaki Kato, a technical writer known as KTU, was in charge of benchmark verification. The interviewer is Mr. Toshiya Takahashi, a “remodeling idiot”. Kentaro Toyama, editor-in-chief of DOS/V POWER REPORT, will be the moderator. An environment incorporating the featured GPU will be prepared and a live demonstration will be held. On the “Day Against Drowning” the Samaritan Union water rescue showed how best to protect yourself from swimming accidents.
Vienna (OTS) – According to a WHO study, 236,000 people drown worldwide every year. In Austria alone, there are 40 to 50 fatal swimming accidents every year. Children are particularly affected, but adults too often underestimate the danger in the water. The Samariterbund Wasserrettung took the International Day Against Drowning as an opportunity to draw attention to the important topic of “safety in the water”!
“Unfortunately, the number of people dying each year from splashing and swimming in open waters and lakes, swimming pools and private pools is consistently high. Only if you the most important bathing rules adheres to, the risk can be minimized. The youngest in particular are most at risk, because children under the age of three drown inconspicuously and without making a sound,” warns Wolfgang Zottl from the Samaritans’ Association for Water Rescue. “It has to be said very clearly that swimming aids such as armbands, vests, cushions or hoops are no substitute for adult supervision. Drowning is the second leading cause of death among children in Austria,” adds Dr. Erik Teumann, Chairman of the Samaritan Water Rescue Association.
Information campaign by the voluntary Samaritans
In order to raise more public awareness of the danger of drowning, the Samariterbund Wasserrettung held numerous events in outdoor pools throughout Austria on Sunday, July 23, 2023.
At several locations between Vienna and Tyrol, volunteer Samaritans explained safety measures and provided information regarding swimming and rescue swimming courses and swimming tests. In the middle of Vienna – on the Danube Canal at Schwedenplatz – those interested visited the new lifeboat of the Vienna Samaritan Association, they watched rescue exercises and rode in the rescue boat.
“Every tenth child in Austria cannot swim. We appeal to all parents to enable their children to learn to swim,” concludes Wolfgang Zottl.
We would be happy to send you pictures of the event on request!

The World Chess Championship in blitz and rapid chess is scheduled to take place in Austria in 2024!
Vienna (OTS) – Michael Stöttinger, President of the Austrian Chess Federation, presented Emil Sutovsky, CEO of the World Chess Federation FIDE, with the official bid for the World Chess Championship in Austria. The chances are excellent, the World Chess Federation should have decided in regarding 3 weeks.
„We are very happy regarding Austria’s application and will hopefully be able to report back with a positive result soon
“, so Emil Sutovsky (FIDE CEO).
The preferred host countries are Upper Austria and Salzburg, with a full World Cup to be played in both countries. These are 2 of the 3 official FIDE World Championships, which differ in the time control: a game of blitz chess lasts regarding 10 minutes, a game of rapid chess regarding 30 – 50 minutes and a game of standard chess can last 6 or 7 hours.
„Blitz and Rapid are the two most attractive World Championships – we have put together a very attractive package for the World Chess Federation and are very optimistic
“, says Michael Stöttinger (President ÖSB).
The defending champion and reigning world champion in blitz and rapid chess is the Norwegian world number one, Magnus Carlsen.
Guest of honor at the presentation was the former world blitz and rapid chess champion Anna Muzychuk from the Ukraine. She will accompany the preparations as a kind of “ambassador” for both competitions and especially the women’s competitions.
In contrast to other sports, chess is not divided into women and men, in chess there is always an “open” competition in which everyone can play, and then there is usually a women’s tournament. Due to the character named “Dame” the term “Frauenschach” is used in German-speaking countries because “Frauenschach” might lead to misunderstandings.
All 4 competitions are to take place in Austria (Blitz Open, Blitz Women, Rapid (= Schnellschach) Open, Rapid Women). A total of around 100 participants are expected, including the entire world elite.
