Harrisburg,Pa. – The Young Professionals Of Color in Harrisburg marked the fifth day of their Juneteenth celebrations with a vibrant community jubilee. The event showcased local businesses and cultural activities, emphasizing the ongoing importance of Juneteenth.
A Jubilee of Unity and Commerce
According To Kimeka Campbell, an event organizer, the Juneteenth Jubilee served as a focal point for community engagement. “We are here at our community celebration, Juneteenth Jubilee, here in Harrisburg,” Campbell stated, highlighting the dual purpose of the event: celebrating freedom and supporting local enterprises.
The jubilee offered attendees a joyful celebration, with organizers underscoring its role in raising awareness for local organizations and businesses. “Its been a big community celebration, and it really is also about letting folks know about all the organizations and businesses that we have in the community,” Campbell added.
One of the featured entrepreneurs was Kingston James, who started his buisness at a young age. “I got started at 12 years old. so, this is around my fifth year doing this,” James shared.

At 17, James spent his Thursday reflecting on the profound meaning of Juneteenth.”There were so many people out here spreading positive messages and just building an overall sense of community. That’s what more people need to do is this day is really about what our ancestors couldn’t do, and that’s the beauty about it,” James explained.
Campbell also emphasized Pennsylvania’s historical contributions to the fight for freedom.”Being that we’re in this amazing state, the Keystone State, the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and understanding how people fought for that here from all parts of the community,” Campbell noted.
Continuing the Celebration
The Juneteenth festivities were set to continue with a block party at Soma on Friday and a Jadakiss concert at HMAC on Saturday,with doors opening at 7 P.M., promising a weekend filled with community and celebration.
“Tomorrow is going to be our block party at Soma. And than Saturday, we have our Jada Kiss concert at HMAC doors open at seven,” Campbell confirmed.
