Outbreaks of Ebola virus disease occur periodically in several countries in sub-Saharan Africa. Since September 20, 2022, an epidemic has been raging in Uganda.
The first doses of candidate vaccine had been sent to the site at the beginning of December 2022, to curb the emerging infection of the so-called “Sudanese” strain. The last case having been reported on November 30, this January 10, 2023 marks the theoretical end of this Ugandan outbreak which has infected 142 people, including 77 fatal cases.
