Sandrine Nonclercq,a representative for The Intercom of the Vire au Noireau,presented encouraging data to local merchants and craftsmen. She announced a significant decline in vacant commercial premises over the past five years, dropping from 21% to 13%. This indicates a strengthening local economy and increased investor confidence.

Fresh Businesses Enrich the Local marketplace

Four new commercial establishments have recently opened their doors in Saint-Sever-Calvados, contributing to a more diverse and appealing marketplace. These include:

  • Mesdécobois
  • Blandine patiss’
  • IT LMS
  • A new butcher shop owned by Sandra and Nico

Management Changes and Future Transitions

In addition to new openings, several existing businesses have undergone changes in management.The Step in the Forest and the Charlin butcher’s shop are now under new leadership, signaling continued investment and innovation within the community.

Furthermore, three establishments are currently in the process of transitioning ownership: The PMU bar The Central, the bocage bar, and the Press House.

Future Projects: Driving School, Photography Studio, and Bakery Renovation

Several exciting projects are under consideration, including the potential opening of a driving school and a photography studio. Notably, the rehabilitation of the Saint-Sever bakery is progressing well, supported by funding from the Public Land Establishment of Normandy and the municipality of Noues-de-Sienne. This project will enhance accessibility and expand the retail space. The anticipated reopening is scheduled for the first half of 2026.

A prospective business owner has also expressed strong interest in revitalizing the restaurant in Mesnil-Clinchamps, with plans for a themed bar and restaurant concept to complement the current offerings.

Nonclercq highlighted the dynamic spirit of Noues-de-Siena, crediting the strong collaboration between local traders and the community’s commitment to preserving commercial areas. This has established Noues-de-Siena as a noteworthy example of successful small-town commerce within the Intercom of the Vire au Noireau.

Healthcare Access: A Continued Concern

Discussions also touched upon healthcare access, with consideration given to the potential for a new dentist to establish a practice in the municipality. However, officials acknowledged the challenges associated with healthcare recruitment. There was also regret expressed over the discontinuation of service from the Medicobus to Saint-Sever-Calvados, raising concerns about access to medical care for residents.
