“The fire is out. An investigation is underway to determine whether the attack was carried out by drones or missiles and who is behind it,” the official said.
The IDF, which operates under the umbrella of the pro-Iranian Islamic Resistance militia, has attacked US troops in the region on several occasions and has targeted Israel since the Gaza war erupted, declaring its support for the Palestinians.
The Islamic Resistance recently claimed responsibility for a drone attack on a “vital target” in the southern Israeli coastal city of Eilat, while it has repeatedly struck US bases in Iraq and Syria with drones and missiles in the past.
The Israeli army, for its part, did not comment on this announcement.
