Kozhikode, Kerala – A couple has been arrested in Kozhikode, Kerala, in connection with a drug sales network linked to Arun, known as ‘Kumari,’ who was previously arrested last month with 200 grams of MDMA. Muhammed Irfan and his wife, T.C. Nirfana, were taken into custody by the City DANSAF (District Anti-Narcotic Special Action Force) team and Medical College Police, following information obtained during Arun’s interrogation, according to reports from Manorama Online.
The arrests highlight an ongoing effort to dismantle a local MDMA distribution network. Authorities believe Irfan, who was known as ‘Don’ among young people and students, operated primarily at night, often with his wife’s assistance. To evade police detection, transactions were reportedly conducted through Nirfana’s bank account, a tactic indicating a deliberate attempt to conceal their activities.
Irfan and Nirfana are suspected of being involved in the wholesale distribution of narcotics within the city. Police investigations revealed the couple allegedly used fake identification cards and at least ten mobile phone numbers to facilitate their operations. Irfan is believed to have utilized approximately six vehicles to complicate tracking efforts and reportedly conducted some of his business under the guise of a shoe shop in Kalliasseri, according to Manorama Online.
The arrests followed surveillance by the DANSAF team. Irfan and Nirfana were previously implicated in a 2025 case involving 25 grams of MDMA seized from Akshay, a resident of Thondayad, making them repeat offenders in drug-related crimes. Two of Irfan’s brothers are facing legal action related to drug use and trafficking, suggesting a broader family involvement in illicit activities.
Nirfana, who works as a beautician, and Irfan are believed to be deeply embedded within Kozhikode’s drug trade. The couple’s alleged use of multiple identities and communication channels underscores the sophistication of their operation and the challenges faced by law enforcement in combating drug trafficking.
Authorities continue to investigate the extent of the network and identify other individuals involved. The ongoing investigation aims to disrupt the supply chain and prevent further distribution of MDMA within the region.
The seizure of MDMA and the subsequent arrests arrive amid growing concerns about drug use among young people in Kerala. The state police have intensified efforts to crack down on drug trafficking and raise awareness about the dangers of substance abuse.
What comes next for the investigation remains to be seen, but authorities have indicated they will continue to pursue all leads to dismantle the entire network. Readers are encouraged to share any information that may assist in this effort and to engage in constructive dialogue about the challenges of drug abuse in our communities.
