A state of great sadness dominated the Al-Mataria area, following the Al-Nour Al-Mohammadi Hospital fire accident, which resulted in the death of 3 people and the injury of 32 others.
The fire engines, which rushed to the site of the fire following the flames and fumes rose to the sky, fought the fire for at least an hour until they succeeded in extinguishing it.
The security services are conducting extensive investigations and discussions with eyewitnesses and hospital staff to fully reveal the causes and circumstances of the fire.
One of the eyewitnesses told “Masrawy” that at exactly two thirty in the followingnoon, an explosion was heard inside the hospital, without knowing the cause of the fire, but some suggested that it might have been caused by an electrical short circuit or an oxygen cylinder.
She added that the site of the fire consisted of 3 buildings, a mosque, a charitable hospital, and an orphanage for children who reside in the home and are provided with full care, adding that the fire losses are related to the hospital only.
She indicated that the children were transferred from the home to another building belonging to the charity, stressing that all the children are in good condition and that no one was injured.
She pointed to the intervention of the people of the area to put out the fire immediately following it broke out and until the arrival of the Civil Protection Forces, who arrived at the site of the fire following being informed directly.
And the Ministry of Health and Population announced that 3 people were killed and 32 others injured as a result of the fire that broke out in the radiology department inside a hospital belonging to a non-governmental organization in Al-Mataria, Cairo Governorate.
Today, Al-Mataria Hospital received 11 injured people, as a result of a fire that broke out inside Al-Nour Al-Mohammadi Hospital in Al-Mataria.
“Masrawy” obtained the names of the injured, and they are: Ibrahim Abdel Wahed Attoh, 30 years old, Huwaida Ahmed Zekrallah, 20 years old, Dalia Abdullah Abdel Malek, 37 years old, Jouda Tamer, 25 years old, Mustafa Mohamed, 43 years old, Buthaina Ahmed, 62 years old, Ahmed Saeed, 28 years old. Faten Ibrahim, 55 years old, Kamila Ahmed, 42 years old, Gouda Zakaria, 24 years old, and Fathia Ibrahim, 60 years old.
Preliminary investigations into the Al-Nour Al-Mohammadi Charitable Hospital fire in Al-Mataria indicated that 3 people working inside the hospital’s pharmacy were killed as a result of suffocation following the fire, and the bodies were transferred to the morgue.
The Civil Protection Operations Room received notification of a fire on the ground floor of Al-Nour Al-Mohammadi Hospital in Al-Masala area in Al-Mataria district.
The civil forces moved, fire trucks were dispatched, and a security cordon was imposed, and the forces succeeded in controlling the fire and preventing its spread to the rest of the hospital departments.

The Ministry of Health and Population announced that 3 people were killed and 32 others were injured as a result of the fire that broke out in the radiology department inside a hospital belonging to a non-governmental organization in Al-Mataria, Cairo Governorate.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, indicated that 12 ambulances were dispatched to the site of the fire.
He pointed out that emergency services were provided to 4 injured at the site of the fire without the need to transfer them to hospitals, while 14 injured were transferred to Al-Zaytoun Specialist Hospital, 11 injured to Al-Mataria Hospital, two injured to Ain Shams Hospital, and one injured to Sayed Jalal University Hospital.
Abdel Ghaffar confirmed that Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, is following up the developments of the fire, and ensuring that all medical services are provided to the injured, stressing the availability of all medicines and blood bags of various factions in all hospitals.
Abdul Ghaffar indicated that the injuries ranged from burns, fractures, and suffocation, and all the injured receive the necessary medical services, explaining that the announced number of injuries came as a result of the initial inventory, and follow-up is underway.

A source at the Ministry of Health and Population revealed the launch date of the new initiative to support mental health among citizens, for different age groups.
The source said, in statements to Masrawy, that the new initiative is scheduled to be launched during the second half of this year, following completing all its axes and the mechanisms for implementing it on the ground.
The source pointed out that the initiative will have a part related to awareness, another with examination, and a third for treatment if the person needs that, which will be known through a questionnaire distributed in universities and government hospitals, which consists of a number of questions related to the psychological aspects of the person, and they are analyzed and evaluated.
He stressed that the main objective of this initiative is to raise community awareness of mental illness, especially what affects the lives of citizens, and to help cases at the beginning of this disease, in order to achieve better results.
Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, has previously emphasized supporting initiatives and programs that concern mental health and instilling a culture of recovery from mental disorders and rehabilitation, in a way that contributes to improving the quality of life of citizens and facing the changes that occur in societies.
According to the data of the Ministry of Health, the initiative focuses on work axes and mechanisms, including: (the research axis, the awareness axis, the service axis in medical facilities, and services provided remotely).
The initiative includes updating the work tools of the National Survey of Mental Disorders, Substance Abuse, Disability, and the impact of the Corona pandemic on the mental health of citizens, in addition to updating the treatment map for addiction patients.
The research axis deals with the proper planning of mental health services, analyzing the behavior of individuals suffering from mental disorders, providing psychological services and facilitating the integration of patients into society.
