Dr. Manen Abdel-Maqsoud, Secretary-General of Mental Health and Addiction Treatment at the Ministry of Health, said that during the Corona crisis, the secretariat sought to remove all the negative psychological effects left by the pandemic.
This came during a press conference held by the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization, today, Wednesday; To announce the launch of the first national electronic platform for free mental health and addiction treatment services.
In her speech, Abdel-Maqsoud added that the secretariat has developed its electronic services, and established the first virtual national platform in Egypt with the aim of providing treatment services to the psychiatric patient and his families in their places of residence through psychological consultations with qualified therapists without burdening them with any financial burdens, and strengthening the societal awareness role of the Egyptian public through Platform.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, stated that the ministry provided free family planning services and means to 56 thousand and 18 beneficiaries through 129 reproductive health and service convoys, which were implemented in the remote and first-career areas at the level of the Republic, pointing out that the ministry carried out several promotional campaigns, Through it, it provided family planning services and means to 240,035 beneficiaries, in the governorates of Aswan, Qena, Assiut, Beni Suef, Fayoum, Giza, Dakahlia, Kafr El-Sheikh, Alexandria, New Valley, and South Sinai.
Abdel Ghaffar added that the ministry provides technical support to clinics affiliated with NGOs by training their work teams to provide high quality family planning services, and they are provided with family planning methods periodically, according to their needs, pointing out that a new private clinic has been opened in Ezbet El Haggana in Nasr City. Cairo Governorate; This brings the total number of clinics supported by NGOs that provide family planning services to 481 clinics, with 416 clinics affiliated with NGOs, and 65 clinics affiliated with the “2 Enough” project.
For his part, Dr. Hossam Abbas, head of the Population and Family Planning Sector, indicated that the total number of beneficiaries’ visits to family planning units amounted to 1,858,515 visits, including 204,141 new beneficiaries, pointing out that 2,341,274 means of various kinds were spent.
Abbas said that 1,458,768 home visits were carried out by rural women leaders in all governorates of the Republic, during which 79,514 educational seminars were presented to raise awareness of family planning services and means, promote health services and raise health awareness for the community, while adhering to measures to prevent the virus. The new Corona virus, pointing out that 756,241 beneficiaries have been transferred to service provision outlets.
He pointed out that 22,435 seminars were held in women’s clubs, to develop their own capabilities and gain more experience. Which helps to empower her economically, as 18,699 women have been trained in some crafts such as handicrafts, leather products, sewing and knitting, which the beneficiaries produce following their training through women’s clubs officials, believing in the importance of supporting women’s development, raising the economic level of Egyptian families, and raising the ability of Women have the right to make decisions, especially the decision to have children, as part of the objectives of improving demographic characteristics.
