However, during a recent expedition consisting of climbing more than twenty peaks including 18 at an altitude above 6000m, biologists from the University of Nebraska have made a completely unexpected discovery. They actually discovered 13 mice mummified at more than 6000m altitude some of which are accompanied by the skeletal remains of other congeners.

The first was discovered on the summit of the Salín volcano in Argentina, quickly followed by 7 others nearby. Of the 21 summits covered so far, the researchers managed to identify 13 mice in total, some a few decades old and others over 350 years old. It would be a species with leaf ears, the Phylottis of cowsyet known to thrive at much lower altitudes in the region.
Could these mice survive on Mars?
This unexpected discovery quickly led scientists to ask more in-depth questions regarding these mice, particularly in relation to their ability to survive in this type of environment. Indeed, the very inhospitable environment in which they were discovered is very close to that present on the surface of Mars.

Around 9 p.m. this Tuesday evening, an impressive collision between two vans occurred on the E42 near Suarlée. Two vans traveling on the right lane towards Namur have, for an undetermined reason, collided.
The back of a pickup truck was ripped open. – L.MU.
In shock, one of them ended up on the side. Inside were more than 1,000 laboratory mice destined to be sent to Germany. Luckily the van didn’t open and the rodents stayed inside. A company was called to pick them up.

Firefighters and paramedics from the Val de Sambre area, under the orders of Sergeant Demeure, went to the scene. The driver of the van on the side was slightly injured and taken to the CHRSM of Namur. The two occupants of the other van are unharmed but the damage to their vehicle is substantial. The back being ripped open, they risked losing the contents.
Traffic has been reduced on the motorway towards Namur. – L.MU.
Traffic was somewhat disrupted for part of the evening, while the convenience store Cassart evacuated the vehicles and the Namur road police drew up the usual report.
