Hoover vikings Reclaim “battle for the Rail” Trophy with Dominating Win Over Jackson
NORTH CANTON, OH – October 25, 2025 – The North Canton Hoover Vikings emphatically reclaimed the “Battle for the Rail” trophy Friday night, defeating rival Jackson High School 35-14 at memorial Stadium. The victory secures Hoover’s regular season finish at 8-2 overall and 4-2 in the Federal League, and earns them a home-field advantage in the first round of the Division II, Region 7 playoffs next week.
The win was particularly sweet for Vikings head coach Brian Baum, who admitted relief at silencing his son’s playful taunts. “I told the players,’I’m just glad we won the Rail back because I’m tired of my 11-year-old giving me a hard time about it,'” Baum said.”It’s back where it belongs, in our weight room.”
Hoover showcased a complete performance, scoring touchdowns through all three phases of the game. Leading the charge was star running back Jack Andes, who delivered a breathtaking performance with 126 rushing yards and a game-sealing 50-yard touchdown run with just 4:21 remaining. Andes finished the night with 229 all-purpose yards.
Jackson struggled for the second consecutive week, following a 40-9 loss to Canton McKinley. They conclude the regular season at 5-5,3-3,and will host a first-round playoff game in Division I,Region 1.
