An earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale struck early Monday in the Japanese Izu Islands.

According to the US Geological Survey, the quake struck at a depth of 409.1 kilometers, at 29.001 north latitude and 139.347 east longitude.
So far, no human or material losses have been reported as a result of the earthquake.
A 5.0-magnitude earthquake jolted West Java province in western Indonesia, according to the country’s meteorology, climatology and geophysics agency.

The last earthquake to hit Japan was on August 10, 2022, with a magnitude of 5.3 on the Richter scale, and it occurred on the northern island of Hokkaido, according to the US Geological Survey.
Over the past years, Japan has been subjected to a number of earthquakes, the deadliest of which occurred in 2011 and claimed the lives of 18,000 people, following it caused a tsunami and destroyed the Fukushima nuclear plant, causing a major disaster following radiation leaked from the damaged plant.
