The fact that Man United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo (36) means a lot to his media perception is nothing new. But it seems that the Portuguese himself is busy with Instagram posts for days. And CR7 doesn’t shy away from direct confrontation either!

In March 2020, the Instagram page published a top eleven with only the most expensive players from Ronaldo advisor Jorge Mendes (56).

“He then sent us a message with the link to the post and just wrote a lot of question marks following it. We knew then that it was probably him himself, since PR consultants don’t usually write like that,” says Fin Lübbers, Head of Marketing at transfermarkt.de, to BILD.

Afterwards, Ronaldo was told via Instagram messages that he was by far the most expensive player on the planet in his age group.

Lübbers: “We sent him statistics in which he was first by a wide margin and made it clear to him that he was still playing in his own league.”

Still true today. Ronaldo’s market value is currently 35 million, Real star Luka Modric (36) comes second with 10 million. But being the most expensive among the older ones wasn’t enough for CR7.

Lübbers: “He then just wrote us ‘Good luck’ and then blocked us (laughs).”

What Ronaldo should have disliked above all: in the eleven he was only the second most expensive player behind Man City star Bernardo Silva (27). At the time, it had a market value of 100 million euros. Apparently an absurdity for super snapper Ronaldo.
