Heat wave, rain and storm alert issued in Punjab this week – Pakistan

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued an alert for heat wave, rains and storm in the province this week.

According to the spokesperson of PDMA Punjab, there is a possibility of 3 to 5 degree Celsius increase in temperature during the day time of May 8 to 10.

During this time, dusty winds and thundershowers may occur in most districts of Punjab, while there is a possibility of stormy rain in South Punjab on May 10-11.

Forecasting more rains across the country, NDMA has issued an alert

PDMA says that district administrations across Punjab have been informed regarding this weather situation.

According to PDMA Punjab DG Irfan Ali Kathia, there is also a fear of damage to standing crops due to the storm.

The NDMA spokesperson also said that to prevent damage during rainy season, ensure waterproofing of roofs, basements and external walls, along with necessary measures to ensure drainage in walls and roofs. Ensure timely repair of cracks.

Westerly winds shifted to Pakistan, chance of unusual rain

On the other hand, western winds have turned towards Pakistan due to stormy rains in the Gulf region.

The Meteorological Department has said that a new series of western winds will enter Pakistan today, resulting in the possibility of unusual rainfall.

Rapidly changing weather is causing unpredictable rains. Landslides are also feared in the upper regions of the country. It is not clear whether instructions have been issued to the concerned institutions to be on full alert or not.

Rains forecast from today, instructions to citizens to stay at home

Based on the analysis of available data, the Meteorological Department has said that the rain may continue till April 27. During this time, if advance security arrangements are not made, there may be problems for the public. In view of the sudden heavy rainfall in the UAE, it is imperative that the relevant institutions remain in full force and issue timely guidelines to the people.

98 people died in various accidents due to recent rains in the country – Pakistan

The recent rains have wreaked havoc in the country, 98 people have died in various accidents. Forty-six people died in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, fifteen in Balochistan, twenty-six in Punjab and eleven in Azad Kashmir.

According to PDMA’s report on the loss of life and property in the province due to recent rains, 25 children, 12 men and 9 women are among the dead, while 11 women, 33 men and 16 children are injured.

A total of 2875 houses were damaged due to the collapse of walls and roofs in different districts, in which 436 houses were completely destroyed while 2439 houses were partially damaged.

The provincial government has released 110 million rupees to the administration of the affected districts for financial assistance and relief activities to the families of the deceased, while 90 million rupees have been released for relief activities in the adjoining districts.

The relief items include tents, mats, kitchen sets, blankets, beds, tarpaulins, solar lamps and other daily life items.
