Ubisoft has officially launched Rainbow Six Mobile worldwide, bringing the intense, tactical gameplay of the popular console and PC franchise to iOS and Android devices. The free-to-play first-person shooter is now available for download, offering a mobile-optimized experience built from the ground up for on-the-go action. This launch arrives alongside the game’s first season, Operation Sand Wraith, adding fresh content and a new Operator to the mix.
Developed by Ubisoft Montreal, Rainbow Six Mobile isn’t simply a port of the existing Rainbow Six Siege. The developers have rebuilt the core experience for mobile platforms, focusing on intuitive touch controls and streamlined matches. Though, the strategic depth that defines the series – destructible environments, careful planning and coordinated teamwork – remains central to the gameplay. The game aims to deliver a competitive, tactical shooter experience accessible to a wider audience.
At launch, players can choose from a roster of over 20 Operators, including familiar faces like Ash, Mute, and Dokkaebi. The game features five classic maps from Rainbow Six Siege – Bank, Border, Clubhouse, Oregon, and Villa – alongside two mobile-exclusive maps: Restaurant, and Summit. Game modes include Bomb, Bomb Rush, and Team Deathmatch, catering to a variety of playstyles, with Ranked, Quick Play, and Private matches also available. Learn more about the game and its features on the official Ubisoft website.
The launch is accompanied by Operation Sand Wraith, the game’s first seasonal update, which arrived a week ahead of schedule. The season introduces Deimos, a new Operator with a unique ability called DeathMARK Tracker. This ability locks onto a single enemy, initiating a one-on-one duel that continues until one player is eliminated, adding a high-stakes element to each round. The season also includes a desert-themed visual refresh and promises ongoing content updates.
The arrival of Rainbow Six Mobile coincides with a period of significant growth for the Rainbow Six franchise as a whole. Rainbow Six Siege recently surpassed 80 million registered players, and is celebrating its 10th anniversary with the release of Siege X. Siege X introduces a permanent 6v6 mode called Dual Front, alongside modernized maps and audio-visual improvements.
Rainbow Six Mobile has been developed and optimized for mobile devices, delivering smooth online gameplay and intuitive controls. Players can customize their HUD and adjust controls to suit their preferences. The game supports both touch controls and controller compatibility, offering flexibility for competitive play. Download Rainbow Six Mobile on the App Store or obtain it on Google Play.
The launch of Rainbow Six Mobile marks a significant expansion for the franchise, bringing its signature tactical gameplay to a new audience on mobile platforms. Ubisoft has committed to ongoing support and content updates, ensuring a dynamic and evolving experience for players. The success of the mobile title could further solidify Rainbow Six’s position as a leading franchise in the tactical shooter genre.
As Rainbow Six Mobile establishes itself in the competitive mobile gaming landscape, it will be interesting to see how Ubisoft balances accessibility with the strategic depth that defines the core Rainbow Six experience. Future updates and the introduction of new Operators and maps will be key to maintaining player engagement and expanding the game’s community.
