The XV of France brings out the heavy artillery to face Namibia… but one of its executives will not be there. Grégory Alldritt, whose tenure was planned, was spared due to a “small alert” in one knee, as Fabien Galthié explained on Tuesday, when revealing the composition of the Blues. Hence a question, this Wednesday before the match, on the evolution of the physical state of the third row of La Rochelle.

Fabien Galthié’s Unique Coaching Style: Motivating the French Rugby Blues with Victor Hugo and Fabrice Luchini
2023-09-18 22:10:00
Since the start of his mandate, Fabien Galthié has stood out in the world of rugby. His style, and we’re not just talking regarding his big glasses, is unique. From his “arrow of time” to the mystical vocabulary that he very often uses when he admits to wanting to “touch the sublime”, the former Stade Français coach does nothing like everyone else.
This Friday, in an interview with France Inter, Fabrice Luchini revealed an anecdote regarding the Galthié method which also goes in this direction. The famous 71-year-old actor says that during a dinner organized by chef Yannick Alléno, he had the opportunity to meet the French coach for the first time. And the boss of the Blues admitted to him that he used texts from a great French author, read on Instagram by Luchini, to motivate his troops before a match.
Hugo through the voice of Luchini for the Blues
“Fabien Galthié said to me: ‘I’m going to tell you something, Luchini. On certain match days, I bring all my players together and I put them your Instagram posts on Victor Hugo or on La Fontaine. I put them up and I say: so, before playing, look, this is France!'” says Fabrice Luchini on France Inter.
And to continue: “I’m dreaming. I say: ‘Will you show them Le mot (poem written in 1888, editor’s note) by Victor Hugo?’ He says to me: ‘Yes, look, I have it!’ I tell him: ‘I can do it for you live’ And there, there are two players who said: ‘No no! We know her!’ They walked away when I suggested doing it. They mightn’t take it anymore!'”
With two victories in two matches, the Galthié method has so far proven itself in this 2023 World Cup.
The worst match of the Galthié era? “One of the worst but we won!”

England’s Dominant Win Against Japan: Highlights and Analysis
2023-09-17 22:13:27
This large score victory, however, hides a tight match, particularly during the first period. A penalty (4′) then a try scored by third row Lewis Ludlam following a gift from the Japanese touchline (24th) allowed England to lead. However, Japan, thanks to penalties scored by Rikiya Matsuda, is not completely overwhelmed. The two teams separated at halftime, 13 to 9.
During the second half, a twist of fate greatly favored England, allowing them to validate their second try. In the Japanese 22 meters, English captain Courtney Lawes manages to recover a ball that bounced off the head of his prop Joe Marler to slip into the in-goal. After a quick check, the referee considers that there is no forward and validates the try (56th). A third try is scored thanks to a little kick from George Ford towards the wing occupied by Freddie Stewart (66′) and it is Joe Marchant who manages to snatch the bonus, in the very last minute of play (80′ ).
Full of desire in the first period, despite an inability to materialize their offensives, the Japanese were completely extinguished in the second period, unable to break through the English defense. After their victory once morest Chile (42-12), they no longer have the right to make mistakes once morest Samoa and Argentina if they want to reach the final stages, as during the previous World Cup.
