Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) — Astronomers used the “James Webb” space telescope to observe “Earendel”, the most distant star ever discovered. Eärendel is so far away that the starlight detected by Webb’s telescope was emitted in the first billion years of the universe’s life. The universe is estimated to be regarding 13.8 billion years old. Previous estimates put the star at 12.9 billion light-years away from Earth, but given the expansion of the universe and the time it took for light to reach us, astronomers believe that Eärendel is currently 28 billion light-years away. The star’s name “Earendl” is derived from Old English words, meaning “morning star” or “rising light”. The “Hubble” space telescope discovered the “Earendel” star for the first time in 2022. “Webb” observations revealed amazing new images of the distant star. Eärendel is a massive B-type star regarding a million times brighter than our Sun and twice as hot. The star is located in the Sunrise Bow galaxy and can only be seen because a massive cluster of galaxies called WHL0137-08, a group of galaxies between Earth and Eärendel, has amplified the distant star’s light. This phenomenon is called gravitational lensing which occurs when closer objects act like a magnifying glass for distant objects. Gravity essentially distorts and magnifies the light of distant background galaxies. In this case, the cluster of galaxies has intensified the light of Eerndel’s star thousands of times. Massive stars like Eärendel usually have companion stars, and while astronomers didn’t expect to be able to spot one, the colors detected by the James Webb telescope indicate the possibility of a red companion star. An image taken by the James Webb telescope shows a massive group of galaxies called WHL0137-08, and to the right is the largest known magnifying galaxy in the first billion years of the universe, dubbed the Sunrise Bow.Credit: NASA/ESA/CSA The distant universe and observations in infrared light, which is not visible to the naked eye, have also revealed details in the Arc Sun galaxy. The space observatory monitored star birth regions and small clusters of stars. Astronomers continue to analyze data from the Webb observations to determine the exact distance to the Sagittarius galaxy. Studying the very distant stars and galaxies that formed near the Big Bang is able to fill in the gaps astronomers have regarding the early days of the universe, and provide a glimpse into what our own Milky Way galaxy looked like billions of years ago. Webb’s ability to study an object this small and far away is encouraging for astronomers. It may eventually be possible to spot the first stars born from raw elements like hydrogen and helium, right following the birth of the universe.

Understanding Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment
2023-08-11 18:46:25
Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychological disorder that causes the emergence of a certain type of thoughts, fears and obsessions, which may lead the patient to perform involuntary behaviors that negatively affect his daily ability to carry out activities normally, and it is also It can cause psychological distress, and is one of the most debilitating health conditions in the world, according to the US National Health Service.
When talking regarding treating this type of disorder, the close link between obsessive-compulsive disorder and anxiety and fear should be emphasized. Obsessive-compulsive disorder arises as a result of the predominance of specific thoughts in the mind of the individual and their repetition abnormally, and when the person feels those thoughts, he strives to resist them with fear and anxiety.
The acquisition of fear is linked to obsessive-compulsive disorder, as people with obsessive-compulsive disorder may suffer from fear and anxiety in the first place.
In a study published by Pubmed, research indicates a strong link between beliefs of self-doubt, anxiety, fear, and beliefs related to obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Obsessive-compulsive symptoms
The US National Institute of Mental Health has identified some of the symptoms of OCD that can interfere with all aspects of life, such as work, school, and personal relationships, including:
Anxiety regarding hygiene and fear of germs or pollution Frequent aggressive and disturbing thoughts towards others or oneself Anxiety regarding organizing or arranging things too symmetrical or too perfect Unwanted thoughts that may lead to violence or wrong relationships
Risk factors of obsessive-compulsive disorder
According to the institute, the causes of obsessive-compulsive disorder are not yet known, but there are some factors that may increase the risk of infection, such as:
Injury to a family member
Twin and family studies have shown that people who have first-degree relatives with OCD (such as a parent, sibling, or child) may be at increased risk.
brain structure
Imaging studies have shown differences in the frontal cortex in the brains of OCD patients. There may be a relationship between OCD symptoms and abnormalities in specific areas of the brain.
The surrounding environment
Childhood trauma and parenting conditions may be a factor in obsessive-compulsive disorder in some studies. More research is needed to better understand this relationship.
According to Pubmed, it is possible that anxiety is a closely related dimension of obsessive-compulsive disorder and affects other features of this disorder depending on the type of obsession, age of onset, comorbidities, and response patterns to treatment of intellectual obsessive-compulsive disorder and fear.

Understanding Wheat Allergy Symptoms and Treatment: A Comprehensive Guide
2023-08-09 17:19:57
Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) — Wheat is one of the most common food allergens in children, and it can be a cause of other diseases such as exercise intolerance, occupational asthma, rhinitis, or contact urticaria, according to the National Library of Medicine in America.
What are the symptoms of wheat allergy ? And when will it disappear?
The European Center for Allergy Research said that allergic reactions often appear a few minutes to hours following a child eats a wheat-containing food for the first time.
Late symptoms can also occur, such as a worsening of eczema a day or two following eating wheatgrass.
The symptoms of wheat allergy are mild, according to the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, but in some cases they may be severe or fatal.
Wheat allergy is usually outgrown in adulthood and regarding two-thirds outgrow it at a relatively early age. According to the college, regarding 65 percent of children with a wheat allergy outgrow it by the time they are 12 years old.
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center indicates that regarding 80% of people with wheat allergy usually get rid of it by the age of 16.
The American College of Asthma and Allergy identified a group of symptoms of wheat allergy in children, including:
Rash Nausea Stomach cramps Indigestion Vomiting or diarrhea Stuffy or runny nose Sneezing Headache Asthma Anaphylaxis, a potentially life-threatening reaction that can obstruct breathing and shock the body
Diagnosis of wheat allergy in children
Skin allergies in children can be detected through a number of tests, and doctors affiliated with the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia often ask regarding the child’s medical history and whether he has had previous food reactions, to ensure an accurate diagnosis and include the correct treatment plan.
Among the tests that a child may undergo to diagnose wheat allergy are:
Skin test
The skin is pricked with a needle to introduce a very small amount of wheat or allergen into the skin and the test site is observed for 10-15 minutes to monitor for a reaction, if any.
blood test
A small amount of the child’s blood is drawn and tested for antibodies that the child may have produced in response to exposure to the allergen.
Food challenge
A food challenge test involves giving a child a small amount of a potentially allergenic food in a clinical setting to monitor for any reactions it may have.
The European Center for Allergy Research confirmed that wheat and its derivatives should be avoided for those suffering from wheat allergy causes or triggers for the appearance of symptoms following eating it, and patients at risk of an allergic reaction should carry an emergency bag with them containing adrenaline injections, corticosteroids and antihistamines, according to the doctor’s prescription. .

Preventing Pig Fair Influenza Infections: CDC Recommendations and Updates
2023-08-06 07:01:34
(CNN) — The US Centers for Disease Control and Control (CDC) announced, on Friday, that two people had been infected with influenza strains that usually spread among pigs, and it appears that the blame lies with pig fairs within agricultural fairs.
Each patient developed influenza-like symptoms regarding 10 days following visiting pig fairs at two different agricultural fairs in early and late July. Neither of them was hospitalized, and the infection did not appear to have spread to other people, according to the CDC.
Both cases were monitored by the Michigan Department of Health.
A few such cases appear in the United States each year, usually related to pig fairs.
However, the disease highlights the possibility that influenza viruses have the ability to pass from animals (such as birds and pigs) to humans.
Such cases do not cause additional problems due to the adaptation of viruses to infect other species, but since there is a possibility that such infections may cause the spread of the disease, the Centers for Disease Control confirmed that they always track these cases and fully examine them.
People who are immunocompromised are more susceptible to indirect infection.
And the Centers for Disease Control recommended that they avoid pig fairs, or wear masks when around these animals.
