Uzès, France – The annual charity bowling tournament, organized by the Kiwanis Club and the Bowling Lazer Game of Uzès, is well underway, drawing competitive play and community support for children in need. Recent matches have seen tight scoring and unexpected turns, with Le Vieux Café currently leading the qualifying rounds despite a slower start.
The tournament, a staple in the Uzès social calendar, aims to raise funds for local children facing difficulties. The qualifying phases have been anything but predictable, with teams battling for a coveted spot in the quarter-finals. A notable development was the late withdrawal of the Avelis Connect team from the competition on Wednesday, February 18th, according to reports from Midi Libre.
Despite the absence of Avelis Connect, the competition remained fierce. Le Vieux Café, the defending champions and three-time winners, secured first place in qualifying with a score of 1064 points. They were closely followed by AVF Uzès, who achieved 969 points, marking a return to form for the team that won the trophy in 2019. The Tennis Club du Duché and Sécuritest-Will M rounded out the top four with scores of 935 and 817 points, respectively.
The evening of February 19th brought another round of exciting matches. The Uzès Fire Brigade emerged victorious with a score of 973 points, demonstrating a remarkable comeback after a challenging first game, finishing with a strong second game of 532 points. The Université Populaire de l’Uzège also secured a quarter-final berth, totaling 961 points with a particularly impressive first game score of 500 points. OVP, Lycée Gide and the all-female Sport et détente team claimed the third, fourth, and fifth spots, with Sport et détente achieving the fourth-highest score among all-female teams at 670 points.
Avelis Connect, a national network of mobile and computer services with 70 stores across France, offers repair services, mobile plans, and financing options. Their withdrawal from the tournament, whereas a setback, did not diminish the overall spirit of the event.
The tournament continues to draw attention for its charitable cause and competitive atmosphere. The Kiwanis Club and the Bowling Lazer Game of Uzès are working to ensure a successful event that will benefit children in the region. The next stage of the competition, the quarter-finals, promises further excitement as teams vie for a place in the semi-finals.
As the tournament progresses, the focus remains on supporting a worthy cause and celebrating the spirit of community. The dedication of the participating teams and the generosity of the organizers are instrumental in making this event a success.
