Columbia, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Track & Field team is set to host the USC Invite this Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Sheila & Morris Cregger Indoor Track & Field Facility. This meet marks the final regular season indoor competition before the Gamecocks head to College Station, Texas, for the SEC Indoor Championship next weekend. Saturday’s event will also be a special occasion as the team celebrates Senior Day, recognizing eight outstanding athletes for their contributions to the program.

Spectators planning to attend the USC Invite should be aware of the facility’s policies. A clear bag policy is in effect, and only one clear, plastic disposable water bottle is permitted per person; hard, non-clear refillable bottles are not allowed.
Senior Recognition and Competitive Schedule
The USC Invite will begin with a senior recognition ceremony at 10:30 a.m., honoring Alexis Brown, Slyvia Chelangat, Brandon Dennis, Cameron Gist, Edouard Lecrivain, Eline Mast, Parker Samuelson, and David Warmington Jr. Field events will kick off at 11:00 a.m., with the Gamecocks’ first event, the men’s 60mH, scheduled for 12:10 p.m. The meet will conclude with the women’s 4x400m relay at 4:35 p.m. A total of 16 teams are expected to compete, including SEC rivals Georgia and Tennessee, as well as ACC competitor Georgia Tech.
Gamecocks Build Momentum Heading into Championship Season
The University of South Carolina Track & Field program has demonstrated impressive form leading up to the USC Invite, highlighted by a successful weekend at both the Tiger Paw Invitational and in Boston. The team secured six wins and broke two program records, while also achieving eleven Top 10 program marks. Salma Elbadra set a new program record in the mile with a time of 4:27.54, achieved in Boston, while the men’s team dominated the Tiger Paw Invitational, winning five events, including all four contested on the second day of the meet. National Rankings and NCAA Championship Qualification
The Gamecocks are currently ranked fourth nationally among women’s teams and 14th among men’s teams by the USTFCCCA, demonstrating consistent performance across various events. To qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championship in Fayetteville, Arkansas, athletes must rank within the Top 16 in their individual events or Top 12 in relay events. Currently, South Carolina boasts 18 entries vying for qualification.
The men’s 4x400m relay team, comprised of Josiah Wrice, Jasauna Dennis, Devan Crumpton, and Andrew Salvodon, currently leads the rankings with a time of 3:00.86 – the second-fastest time in collegiate history. On the women’s side, JaMeesia Ford (200m – 22.61), Zaya Akins (400m – 51.15), and Salma Elbadra (3000m – 8:41.76) all hold top-three national rankings. The women’s 4x400m relay team also ranks third nationally with a time of 3:27.75. Additional top performers include Jathiyah Muhammad (6th in women’s pole vault – 4.50m) and Logan Montgomery (10th in men’s shot put – 19.64m). Freshman Tristen Harris is currently 14th in the long jump.
The Gamecocks will seem to continue their strong performance at the USC Invite as they prepare for the SEC Indoor Championship and the NCAA Indoor Championship.
