Budapest – Hungarian comedian Lakatos Laci is bracing for a new challenge on the TV2 show “A Nagy Duett,” following a successful debut performance with singer Tolvai Reni. While the pair captivated audiences last week with their rendition of 50 Cent’s “Candy Shop,” the upcoming performance presents a significant hurdle: the iconic “Ketchup Song,” complete with Spanish lyrics and a demanding choreography.
Lakatos, known for his humor and willingness to step outside his comfort zone, initially expressed reservations about rapping in the first round. However, he and Reni successfully navigated the performance, earning them a place in the competition. The second challenge, however, appears even more daunting, requiring him to tackle a song in a language he doesn’t speak and master a well-known dance routine. The show, “A Nagy Duett,” pits celebrity contestants with professional singers in a series of duet performances.
“Honestly, I wasn’t thrilled with this song,” Lakatos told Bors. “The Hungarian language is so stunning, and we have to struggle with these tongue-twisters. We have Péter Máté, Zsuzsa Cserháti, and many others, but from that perspective, this is progress – I finally get to actually sing on a singing show. I tried to give it my all last week, but it was a completely different style, and the jury wanted to hear me sing. Well, now they will. They might even miss the rap.”
Lakatos acknowledged the difficulty of the task ahead, joking about drastic measures to improve his performance. “I’m going to have to start breaking. I think if I shave my head completely bald, maybe I’ll be able to spin on it too. But joking aside, my dancing skills are on par with my singing skills, so neither of them is very good. Reni is doing her thing, what she’s good at, and I’m just a kind of biodisplay for now. But I really took on this show because I seek to learn these things, we’re just starting from very far back.”
The comedian likewise expressed his determination to reach the final of the competition, envisioning a performance of “Beauty and the Beast” where he would playfully take on the role of “the beauty.”
Tolvai Reni expressed her pride in Lakatos following their first performance, stating, “I’m very proud of Laci!” according to Bors. She also noted their performance was well-received by the judges and audience.
Lakatos previously expressed discomfort with the initial rap selection, but ultimately delivered a successful performance alongside Reni. Blikk reported that he initially “kiborult” (was upset) about the song choice, but adapted to the challenge.

As “A Nagy Duett” progresses, Lakatos and Reni will continue to face new musical and performance challenges. The next episode will reveal whether Lakatos can overcome the hurdles of the “Ketchup Song” and advance further in the competition. The show’s format requires contestants to adapt to diverse genres and styles, testing their versatility and stage presence. The ultimate goal for all participants is to reach the final and deliver a memorable performance.
What remains to be seen is whether Lakatos can successfully navigate the complexities of the Spanish lyrics and choreography, and whether the judges will indeed “miss the rap.” The upcoming performance promises to be a test of his adaptability and willingness to embrace new challenges. The competition is expected to intensify as contestants strive to impress both the jury and the viewing public.
