Taipei — August 17, 2023. The State Department announced today that Taiwan will donate US$500,000 to support disaster relief and forest fire recovery in Maui, Hawaii.

The State Department said it is in contact with the Hawaii state government through its Honolulu office to make a donation to the Maui Strong Fund established by the Hawaii Community Foundation. The funds are used directly for disaster relief and reconstruction.

According to the ministry, Taiwan and Hawaii have maintained a stable sister-state relationship for 30 years, and the friendship between the people of both countries is deep. Taiwan hopes to help the victims rebuild their homes and return to normal life as soon as possible.
