After several months with a limited flow due to the drought and lack of rain in the Huasteca region, this week the emblematic Tamul waterfall, located in the municipality of Aquismón, shows an impressive flow.
The waterfall, which is one of the main tourist attractions in the Huasteca area, managed to recover its abundance due to the fact that the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) agreed with agricultural producers in the Gallinas River basin to temporarily suspend the extraction of water for irrigation.
In addition to this, the rains that have been recorded in recent days in the Huasteca area, as a result of the stimulation of clouds, contributed to the river also increasing the low water level that it had maintained for months.
With the return of water to the Tamul waterfall, tourist activity is also reactivated in the towns surrounding this natural attraction, which receives tens of thousands of national and foreign walkers every year, which represents an exponential benefit for livestock producers. , agricultural and the entire spectrum of tourism service providers.
This waterfall is one of the most visited and emblematic places in the Huasteca of Potosí, for tourists it is a mandatory stop in the Magical Town of Aquismón. This site is among the top 5 of the largest waterfalls in Mexico. It is 105 meters high and has a curtain of 200 meters, although in the rainy season this can extend up to 300 meters.
When visiting this place, walkers can sail on a raft paddling approximately 4 kilometers, on a turquoise blue Tampaon River, further ahead is the Water Cave, a natural cenote ideal for, with the appropriate safety equipment, to enjoy a dip in the refreshing waters.
