Burlington’s Old North End (ONE) is buzzing with culinary activity as “Taste the ONE,” a recent neighborhood restaurant week, gets underway. The event, which began this weekend and runs through Sunday, March 29, 2026, showcases the diverse dining scene of this vibrant Burlington neighborhood. Nine restaurants are participating, offering special menu combinations at reduced prices, providing a flavorful and affordable experience for locals and visitors alike.

The Old North End has undergone a significant culinary transformation in recent years, evolving into a destination for food lovers. More than 13 new restaurants have opened there in the past decade, attracting nationally recognized chefs and establishing beloved local eateries, according to Love Burlington. “Taste the ONE” aims to celebrate this growth and connect diners with the unique flavors the neighborhood has to offer.

A Celebration of Burlington’s Culinary Diversity

From pizza and pho to fresh pappardelle, the Old North End boasts a remarkable range of cuisines. The event highlights this diversity, offering something to satisfy every palate. Participating restaurants are creating special menus for the occasion, providing a chance to sample their offerings at a value. Avery Buck, executive chef at May Day, explained the importance of the event, stating, “Winter in Vermont is pretty harsh for restaurants and I thought it was a really awesome way to connect new dining experiences to new people, and just bring some people in in a slower time of the year and so far it’s been a great success.”

Participating Restaurants and Special Offers

Several restaurants are offering enticing deals during “Taste the ONE.” Barrio, located at 197 N. Winooski Ave, is offering a meal for $8, including a 12 oz. Lavender honey latte and a sweet croissant. Gold Restaurant, at 294 N. Winooski Ave, features a three-course meal for $35, with an optional wine pairing for an additional $10. Fancy’s, located at 88 Oak Street, is presenting a four-course tasting menu for $45. Kismayo Kitchen, at 505 Riverside Ave, has a meal available for $18, including a choice of Somali chicken or beef (with a vegetarian option available), one samosa (beef, chicken, or veggie), and a drink.

May Day, a restaurant known for its seasonally inspired food and natural wines, is too participating. As of March 21, 2026, May Day is offering $10 patty melts on Sunday nights, according to their website. Buck expressed hope that “Taste the ONE” will become an annual tradition, bringing continued success to the neighborhood’s restaurants.

Supporting Local Businesses During the Off-Season

The timing of “Taste the ONE” is particularly significant, as winter can be a challenging period for restaurants in Vermont. The event provides a boost to local businesses during a traditionally slower season, encouraging residents to explore the culinary gems of the Old North End.
