Tax not paid; Indigo Airlines bus seized by motor vehicle department

Kozhikode: The motor vehicle department seized the bus of IndiGo Airlines following operating the service without paying tax. The motor vehicle department took action on Tuesday evening.

The bus operating at Karipur airport has been seized. The bus brought for repair was seized from the Farook customs workshop.

Six months of tax arrears are payable. The Motor Vehicle Department has informed that the vehicle will be released only following paying the due tax and its penalty. Indigo has to pay Rs 40,000 including fine and tax.

The bus was taken into custody by a team comprising Farooq Joint RTO on the instructions of the RTO. The Motor Vehicle Department informed that the company has been informed that the bus will be released if the money is paid.

The motor vehicle department explained that the current action has nothing to do with the current political situation and the bus was not yet able to be taken into custody as it was at the airport and was seized when it was released today.
