BANGKOK – Thailand’s parliament has denied the reform-oriented election winner Pita Limjaroenrat a renewed candidacy as head of government. “Pita cannot stand once more,” said the speaker of parliament, according to Thai TV media. Pita’s opposition Move Forward Party (MFP) clearly won the parliamentary elections in May, but in a first vote on the post of head of government in parliament last week, the previous opposition leader did not get the necessary votes.
