The 2023 edition of the Geneva Motor Show is canceled

The Geneva International Motor Show (Gims) will not be held in Geneva in February 2023. The organizers mention global geopolitical and economic uncertainties, which have prevented many brands from getting involved.

“Due to the uncertainties weighing on the global economy and geopolitics, as well as the risks associated with the evolution of the pandemic, the organizers have decided to focus exclusively in 2023 on the planning of the event in Doha” , explains Maurice Turrettini, President of the foundation of the Geneva International Motor Show, quoted in a press release.

In Doha, it will be in November 2023

This decision was taken by the members of the Committee and the Board of the foundation during a meeting on Thursday in Bern. The Geneva Motor Show was originally scheduled to be held from February 14 to 19, 2023 at Palexpo. The first edition in Doha, Qatar will take place in November 2023.

During an interview with the ATS agency, the general manager of the Geneva International Motor Show (Gims), Sandro Mesquita, underlines that no decision has yet been made for the 2024 edition in Geneva. “The first echoes are however reassuring and the trend positive. We expect a more interesting recovery for the automotive sector by the end of 2023/beginning of 2024”.
