The arrival of Makhtar Gueye was more and more precise at the Machtens stadium, it was finally recorded this Sunday since the Senegalese striker from Ostend signed a three-season contract with RWDM.

Makhtar Gueye is an imposing central striker of one meter 95. First trained at US Gorée in Senegal, he then joined Europe to continue his training at AS Saint-Étienne. After being loaned to AS Nancy-Lorraine for a season (24 games, 7 goals), he was bought by KV Ostend where he started in attack during the season which saw KVO finish 5th behind Jupiler Pro League. Two seasons later (67 games, 25 goals), he was loaned to Real Zaragoza, a Spanish club playing in La Liga 2, during the 2022-2023 season.

CEO Gauthier Ganaye, who knew him well in Ostend, confides in this transfer: “Makhtar is a powerful centre-forward capable of scoring all kinds of goals. He knows the Belgian championship for having scored more than 10 goals there two seasons in a row. Finally, he is a generous player with a fiery temperament who will please our supporters.

Makhtar Gueye is impatient to start his adventure at RWDM: “It feels good to come back to a championship I know. I came to help the team achieve the common goal and to score as many goals as possible.”
