Eidos Montreal is the studio behind Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided published by Square Enix. Now the developers entry threshold to the Swedish company Embracer Group, formerly known as THQ Nordic AB.

And, according to Jeff Grubb, following a full transition to new management, Eidos Montreal wants to immediately return to Deus Ex. “They want to go back to it… they want to do something that Cyberpunk 2077 mightn’t. Let’s see if that happens – it’s still too early to tell. Who knows what it will lead to, but with the current Square Enix, it was not even possible to start this conversation.Grubb added.

Fans of Deus Ex, immersive sims and cyberpunk will no doubt be excited regarding the return of the series. It has been 6 years since the release of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. The plot of the game implied a sequel, but since 2016 Square Enix has not even hinted at the beginning of its development.

It is assumed that deal between Embracer Group and Square Enix will close in September 2022. There is a good chance that right following that, Eidos Montreal will get the green light to develop the next Deus Ex. So, the game should be expected no earlier than 2025.
