This connection has proven invaluable as McCarthy now leads the Canadian team in the League of Nations. “This is an important role and I want to preach by example,” said McCarthy. “Learning to perform at the highest level is very different to do so in the university network. I want to help the youngest to grow and adapt to the speed of the game. It is a great honor to have been appointed captain.”

I knew nothing about Quebec except that it is a beautiful city,” he said. Dan Lewis, the Canadian team coach, also praised the support of the Quebec people. “The people of Quebec support sporting events and that exceeds me that there is not a NHL team,” said Lewis. “I live in Gatineau, my wife is Quebecoise and I love Quebec.”
