Chavista leader Diosdado Cabello said Monday that the Summit of the Americas should serve to explain the reasons of the host, the United States, for excluding Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua from the continental meeting.

“The central line should be: reasons for the exclusion of some countries, unilateral exclusion, by US imperialism, of some countries,” said Cabello at a press conference. His comment occurs on the same day that the meeting of high level in the city of Los Angeles, in California.

Diosdado Cabello on the Summit of the Americas

The first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) dismissed, once once more, the scope of the summit. He compared it to a simple “meeting” organized by the Joe Biden administration. He does not recognize the government of Nicolás Maduro as legitimate.

“I hope that the agenda proposed by the host of the meeting allows the other countries to express themselves, that it is not a monologue. We are sure that (the issue of exclusions) will be heard there, I have no doubt », he continued.

The Chavista leader reiterated what Nicolás Maduro said this weekend, during a radio interview with an Argentine media outlet. He assured that the president of that country, Alberto Fernández, will bring “the voice of Latin America and the Caribbean” to the Summit of the Americas.

“Let it be our voice there, very good, and let the voice of the peoples be raised in this type of scenario,” added Cabello.

Venezuela was excluded by the White House from the list of countries invited to the summit, along with Nicaragua, for considering that they govern outside of democracy. While Cuba excluded itself amid the doubt generated by the United States as to whether it would have the island nation at the summit.
