The Controversy Surrounding Kamilla Valieva’s Doping Test: Anabolic Steroid and Trimetazidine Findings

2024-02-02 13:17:00

In the doping test of the Russian figure skater Kamilla Valieva, in addition to trimetazidine, a certain anabolic steroid was found. Despite the fact that this substance is not prohibited by the anti-doping agency, it might have affected the decision to disqualify the athlete, writes the Yle portal.

«[Препараты] might influence the severity of the verdict and indirectly prove that the skater resorted to the use of drugs,” it says in the material of the Yle portal. It is clarified that these drugs have not yet been prohibited by the World Anti-Doping Commission. Nevertheless, WADA is considering banning the anabolic substance found in Valieva.

Previously, Valieva was suspended from competition for four years due to violating anti-doping rules. Her results from December 2021 have also been cancelled.
