The crane brought for the construction of the flyover got stuck on the track; Train Service Delays | Palakkad

Ottapalam – During the construction of a flyover at Mannanoor railway station, train traffic was partially blocked for several hours due to a crane getting stuck on the track. The traffic was blocked on the upline towards Palakkad. While moving the girders of the under-construction foot over bridge, the crane had a mechanical breakdown. Although the breakdown occurred at 11 am, traffic was not significantly affected as there were fewer trains at this time.

The engineering department arrived with safety systems and started efforts to move the crane. After noon, the problem started affecting the traffic. Trains bound for Palakkad via Upline were diverted via Downline. For this, some trains were intercepted en route. The damaged crane was removed from the track by pulling two other cranes. Traffic was restored on the track around 4:30 pm.
