The discussions reportedly took place in Jony Ive’s offices in San Francisco. The former chief designer of Apple, who notably helped design the emblematic curves of the Apple brand’s products and had a major role on the first iPhone in 2007, was approached by Sam Altman, the boss of OpenAI, to develop the first consumer device from the start-up behind ChatGPT. According to the “Financial Times”, the two men plan to create a device offering a “more natural and intuitive user experience” to interact with the artificial intelligence developed by ChatGPT.

An “AI iPhone,” inspired by how the touchscreen technology of the first iPhone helped revolutionize interaction with the mobile Internet, according to people familiar with the matter. The process of identifying a design or device is still in its early stages and many different ideas are on the table, they told the Financial Times.
