The creator of the online library “Flibusta” announced the closure of the project

The creator of the online library Flibusta, known under the pseudonym Stiver, announced that he had been diagnosed with glioblastoma, the most common and aggressive form of brain tumor. He announced the imminent closure of the project.

“I’m in the hospital with an obscenely sized glioblastoma. Unfortunately, Flibusta seems to have ended here, as did I. Thanks everyone, it was fun. The servers are paid for for a few more weeks,” Stiver wrote.

Flibusta was launched in 2009, where you can read and download books for free. In 2015, Roskomnadzor blocked several pages of the library by order of the Moscow City Court as an interim measure in a lawsuit filed by EKSMO Publishing House, which owns the rights to publish Ray Bradbury’s books in Russia.

In 2016, the Moscow City Court decided to block the online library for life due to repeated violations of copyright laws by the Flibusta administration – before that, the project created a bot in Telegram that allows downloading books in electronic format without visiting the site.
