A week after the first stage of progressive deconfinement, the weekend confirmed the decline of the epidemic in the department.

Fewer patients in the hospital

After several weeks of improvement, the number of simultaneously hospitalized patients continued to decline this weekend in the department: there were 414 on Sunday, that is to say 5 less than Friday and 44 less than last Monday. , day when daytime travel restrictions were lifted.

Same trend in intensive care services: this Sunday evening, Public Health France listed 59 patients there, as many as on Friday but 15 fewer than a week ago.

Two new deaths

In addition, the national agency announces two new deaths in hospital linked to Covid-19 in the department this weekend.

Since the start of the epidemic, the virus has killed at least 1,936 people in the Alpes-Maritimes, according to health authorities. An undervalued total: deaths at home are not counted.

However, the virus continues to slow down

Indicators of virus activity in the department consolidate and even accelerate their downward dynamic.

After having exceeded 630 at the end of February, the incidence rate (number of cases detected over a week and reduced to 100,000 inhabitants) continues to decline, according to the latest data dating back to Thursday, to drop to 98.

This is the first time since October 2020 that the indicator has dropped below 100.

The positivity rate (percentage of positive tests on all screenings, regardless of their number) has even lost more than one point in one week to return to 2.5%.
