The delegation of ECOWAS, the United Nations and the African Union, which was to arrive in Niamey on August 8, was refused entry into the country by President Mohamed Bazoum’s killers.

The joint mission, expected in Niamey on August 8, is not authorized to go to Niger. This refusal was opposed to him by a note verbale from the Nigerien Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The ministry would like to recall that following the sanctions imposed by ECOWAS itself, at the end of the Conference of Heads of State and Government, on July 30, 2023, the land and air borders of Niger with the Member States being closed, the organization of such a mission by special flight requires a particular examination of the Nigerien authorities, including a special exemption which is not invoked in this note from the resident representation”, signs the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Niger .
