“The discovery could be linked to the file”: a weapon found in the Damme canal could have been used by the Killers of Brabant

It was a phone call to the local police in Damme that allowed them to make the necessary findings on the spot, “subsequently, we informed the office of the public prosecutor. He is carrying out a more in-depth investigation”, declared the police at HLN.

The weapon, probably an uzi submachine gun, would have belonged to the Nivelles gang and might have been used during a bloody robbery at Colruyt in Nivelles in 1983.

“But the investigation is still in full swing. It is too early to say anything significant at this stage. It remains to be seen whether the discovery can actually be linked to the file”, recalls the prosecution in order to avoid conclusions that are too fast.
