The National Directorate of Medicines (DNM) will become the new Superintendency of Health Regulation (SRS) starting next August. This transformation involves assuming some of the powers of the Ministry of Health (Minsal) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG).
The SRS will be the National Regulatory Authority for medicines, nutritional supplements, medical devices and equipment, other health technologies, cosmetics, hygiene products for human and veterinary use, as well as chemical products, food, beverages, alcohol, tobacco, nicotine delivery devices and similar non-nicotine products.
The DNM informed users that procedures and processes will continue to be registered as before, through the online portal or electronic window, and on the CIEX/DCR platforms for import processes. Users of procedures for veterinary products and establishments must carry out their procedures in the SAS Building (formerly the DNM building) in Ciudad Merliot.
This restructuring aims to Objective: to improve efficiency and effectiveness in the regulation of health products and technologies in El Salvador, ensuring more rigorous control and greater protection of public health.
