In Spain Christmas officially begins on December 22, the day the largest lottery draw in the world is held in the European country, in which you can win the “Gordo”, the maximum prize that is awarded every year.

The coupon with El Gordo’s number is awarded 400,000 euros per tenth (regarding US$425,000) and 4 million euros for the series (made up of 10 tenths).

And this Thursday morning one of the lucky ones was Perla, an unemployed Peruvian immigrant residing in Spain and who had bought one of the tickets with the number awarded with the Gordo.

And, coincidences of fate, in a double carambola, Perla was in the hall of the Royal Theater from Madrid where the draw was held, which millions of Spaniards follow every year on television.
