According to the statement, which was leaked on social networks during the followingnoon of Friday, the company initiated a Voluntary Liquidation Bankruptcy Procedure (“Liquidation”), with the goal of liquidating all of the company’s assets and paying all of the company’s debts.

Among the events that led to this decision, would be a strong drop in sales; an increase in the price of the dollar and in costs; and the consequences of multiple national and international events, like the social outbreakthe health crisis and the current global crisis.

Rumors that the chain was in a delicate situation began a few days ago, following the retail social networks stopped generating content from December 28, limiting comments.

Users throughout the country also mentioned how several stores had been closed for some time, including Copiapó, Viña del Mar and others in Santiago. The gossip was fortified when it became known that Microplay was in «a centralized inventory and tonnage in all stores«, action that was not carried out in 8 years.

Currently, the conditions regarding the auction of assets and merchandise of the Chilean chain, as well as the fate of its employees and other deals, are not known. This information is expected to be revealed in the next few hours.
