The endless construction of the Liège tram: further delays in perspective

by Alexandra Hartman Editor-in-Chief

A delay, one more for the Liège tram. The end of the work announced for August is postponed to the end of the year. If all goes well. A few more months that will further poison the lives of the people of Liège and the 11 kilometer route that crosses the city from side to side.

Traders, in particular, have often complained regarding the duration of the construction site and the problems of communication with the builder.

The contractor has yet doubled the number of workers on site. But obviously, that’s not enough, he can’t meet the deadlines and therefore his contract. This exasperates the Walloon Region, which recalls that these delays have financial consequences for the entrepreneur himself.

Mediation must be set up between the TEC and Colas, the contractor, to finally arrive at a new timetable which, the people of Liège hope, will be respected.
