“The environment is not a priority for the Government in 2023, a great debt of the State”: José Luis Magaña 2024-02-29 00:26:17

The economist José Luis Magaña spoke this Monday on the Platform program regarding the budget, the cuts made to State portfolios that are essential for the well-being of the population and the increase to other less necessary areas.

“In the Ministry of Health there is a budget cut in 8 hospitals, although there is an increase in the 2023 budget, it is still less than the current budget”he assured.

In addition, he considered that the Environment budget is a counterpart to the budget of the Ministry of Agriculture, “If we see effects of Climate Change, what are the mitigation projects that are being implemented?.

In this sense, Magaña pointed out that for President Nayib Bukele it is not a priority to consult communities regarding environmental projects.

Likewise, he detailed that for the year 2023 a budget of 4.2 million dollars has been projected for the MARN institutional management unit, in addition, it has been reduced from $2.5 million to $2.4 million for the threat observatory.

“The environment is not a priority for the Government in 2023, a large State debt”said Magaña.
