The European Union (EU) expressed this Monday, August 28 its “full support” for the French ambassador to Niger, Sylvain Itté, still in office while the soldiers who took power in this country asked for his departure. “The decision of the putschists to expel the French ambassador is a new provocation which can in no way help to find a diplomatic solution to the current crisis”, declared the spokesperson of the diplomatic service of the European Union, Nabila Massrali , in a press release. “The European Union does not recognize and will not recognize the authorities resulting from the putsch in Niger”, she recalled.
