“It’s the only part that’s already hollowed out like that,” comments the engineer. “We started excavating two, three weeks ago. It’s a key step. We can now see what we have built so far and what was buried. We now have a cruising speed, it’s starting to turn”.

Today, on the kilometer of tunnel to be built, the walls and the ceiling are thus finished over a length of 900 meters. If all goes well, the portion should be completed by the end of 2025. So far, there have been no major setbacks, despite the complexity of the site: “Here we are in the bed of the seine, we have a fairly high water level. We had to make this enclosure so watertight to be able to empty it of its water without disturbing what is outside before also be able to dig dry earth”.
