The FNBTP calls for urgent measures to guarantee the sustainability of the sector

The National Federation of Building and Public Works (FNBTP) has called for urgent measures to be taken to guarantee the sustainability of the sector and deal with the crisis situation linked to the pandemic.

Speaking at a press conference, Thursday in Rabat, focused on the real impact of the surge in inputs, materials and supply delays on construction companies, the president of the FNBTP, Mohamed Mahboub pleaded for the implementation of urgent measures to support the Moroccan industrial and entrepreneurial sector of the construction industry, reviewing the difficulties of implementing the circular of the head of government N ° 09/2022.

“Our companies are suffering greatly and continue to suffer from the COVID pandemic and several of them have either put the key under the doormat or are enduring the pangs of legal redress”, he warned, while welcoming the reaction. of the government through its circular to public contracting authorities aimed at taking this reality into account.

“Companies in the sector have not only had to deal with rising input costs and freight and transport costs, but also with the disruption of supply chains and the impacts of travel restrictions,” said he argued.

Therefore, the president of the FNBTP stressed that a general preliminary reflection is necessary to overcome this situation.

The FNBTP recalled that some principals continue to disregard the recommended directives, explaining that “our companies have often been confronted either with refusal or lack of response from principals for their requests or with the slowness in the instruction of their files”.
