The former ruling party of Bangladesh demanded the extradition of Sheikh Hasina – World

Bangladesh’s former ruling party Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has demanded the extradition of Sheikh Hasina Wajid from India.

The party says that India’s sheltering of the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh is a threat to the survival of democracy in Bangladesh. This action of India is becoming a wall in the way of continuation of democracy in Bangladesh.

In a statement, the BNP said that the Indian leadership should hand over Sheikh Hasina to Bangladesh so that the proceedings of 31 cases against her on charges of various crimes can be formally started.

These cases of massacre and war crimes against Sheikh Hasina Wajid have been filed after the great success of the student movement and the overthrow of the power of the Awami League.

It should be noted that Sheikh Hasina Wajid kept BNP chairperson and former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia in custody during her fifteen-year rule and did not allow any political party, including her party, to work openly. Meanwhile, thousands of political activists were thrown in jails. During fifteen years of democratic dictatorship, Sheikh Hasina Wajid made all the policies of Bangladesh pro-India.
