The French Ambassador in Beirut welcomes the Lebanon-International Monetary Fund agreement

BEIRUT (Archyde.com) – France’s ambassador to Beirut, Anne Grillo, welcomed the draft agreement between Lebanon and the International Monetary Fund, calling it an “important first step” toward adopting an IMF program, the ambassador said on Thursday.

The International Monetary Fund said on Thursday it had reached a draft financing agreement with Lebanon, but Beirut needed to enact a set of economic reforms before the fund’s board of directors might decide whether to approve the deal.

“France will continue to support Lebanon on the path of reforms and recovery,” Grillo said on Twitter.

France has been at the fore in international calls for Lebanon to implement reforms on a large scale.
